Three Takeaways from Packers Win Against Bears

The Green Bay Packers went into Soldier Field and got the win against the Chicago Bears 10-3. The NFL season is officially underway and the Packers start their 2019 campaign off with a big road win against a division rival. Here are three takeaways from the game:

  1. The Re-Emergence of a great defense:

Look, say what you will about the Chicago Bears offense. But, the Green Bay Packers defense looked awesome last night. With the off-season additions and veterans that are already on this team, a healthy Green Bay Defense looked electric in this contest. The new additions had a combined two and a half sacks, nine quarterback pressures and a key interception in the fourth quarter to change the pace of the game. We want to believe that the Bears offense really is not that terrible and that the Packers defense is going to be able to keep this team in games. But time will tell on this, however 60 minutes in the Packer nation should be very excited about the new look on the defense.

2. Aaron Rodgers had a sluggish start, but thou shall not fear:

Aaron Rodgers did not exactly stuff the stat sheet tonight with 204 yards and one touchdown. But as a guy who did not play the entire pre-season, this was not the worst start we could’ve seen from number 12. Due to the fact that the Packers were kept in this game by the defense, Rodgers did not have to go over the top to keep the hopes for a win alive. The Aaron Rodgers that is able to erase any lead and give his team a chance to win will be back soon, the fact that Green Bay was able to win on the road tonight against a stout Chicago defense is a moral victory in itself.

3. Matt LaFleur is going to be good for the Packers:

The first regular season game for the new head coach ends up in the W column. It could’ve been way worse for the Green and Gold in Chicago. But, a low scoring game in the trenches that leads to the Packers putting a win in the books was the best case scenario. This team just seemed like a different tempo squad from that of Mike McCarthy’s days, a team that will be very exciting to watch this season. Matt LaFleur is going to be good for the Packers and will bring a new look that will overall be more effective for Green Bay in the long run.

In short, there is a lot to be excited about just 60 minutes into the season for the Green Bay Packers. A huge divisional win tonight in Chicago puts the Packers in the right place come the home match-up against the Vikings next week.
